COVID-19: For Clients and Families

What is COVID-19?

COVID-19 is a new disease that’s caused by a strain of Coronavirus known as SARS-CoV-2. The World Health Organization was first notified of the virus in December 2019, after cases of a “viral pneumonia” were reported in Wuhan, People’s Republic of China. The most common symptoms are: fever, dry cough, and fatigue. But there are a wide range of symptoms that have also been documented, such as: headaches, sore throat, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, and shortness of breathe.

Across the world, new cases are being reported daily and information on the disease is constantly being updated. To learn where Manitoba is at currently, please visit https://www.gov.mb.ca/covid19/index.html.
